For my regular visitors, if you find that this blog hasn't been updating much lately, chances are pretty good I've been spending my writing energy on my companion blog. Feel free to pop over to

Thanks for that - says it all doesn't it?

Yeah. It's something my in-laws saw first hand when they were living in Africa, too. That was a long time ago, and things don't seem to have changed. Things like food donated for aid being sold in the markets instead of going to the people who needed it, and you could always tell when the aid money came in - and when it ran out. At the beginning of the month, the military aircraft would be out in full force doing maneuvers, until they ran out of money for fuel. Meanwhile, the folks working for the aid groups were driving brand new SUV's and blowing money like it grew on trees.
ReplyDeleteAfrica isn't the only place being hurt by "help." Haiti is also suffering because of well meaning aid programs. I'm sure it's happening elsewhere.
